"I’m reminded when we are home I have everything I need – you and your mother." Just beautiful, I love this for yall so much! I feel much the same about my little family and the joy these people of my choosing and making brings me is just bonkers. I'm so glad you have such a community of people in your corner!!!
Thanks for infusing the day with joy -- I think we all need it these days. Sending love yalls way! 💜
I love the phrase people of my choosing so much. Appreciate you for reading. I’ve been trying to lean into these glimmers lately given what’s happening in our world.
🥹 so happy y'all had a good trip and healing family moments.
I loved going to jamaica to see my family. Most of my family still lives there and even as a kid I always felt the love as soon as I got there. I still cry every time I leave lol.
I loved this and I know what you mean about going back to a place (the museum) as a kid, then with Maya, then with all 3 of you. I have those experiences all the time and now with my grandkids!
Isabel, thank you. I’m working my way back slowly. Trying to pace myself. Life and little Myles are demanding so much these days. Keeps us in love and prayer, please.
What a beautiful essay, full of joy and love. I associate the Natural History Museum with my paternal grandmother. We used to visit her on W77th street then go to the museum. I was always scared that the blue whale would come crashing down on my head! NYC is a special place.
Loved the way you captured the mix of nostalgia and discovery. This trip felt like a bridge between past and present, and your storytelling made it feel personal yet relatable. Thanks for sharing the magic.
I didn't fully appreciate how depleted I've become under the onslaught of relentlessly nightmarish domestic and international news.
Your joyful essay provided a brief, but essential, respite.
Appreciate you for being here ❤️ so grateful

I’m still loving those Jamaican diary photos. Although I’ve never been to Haiti, I’ve been living through the eyes of Nico on Instagram.

Natural History is my fav museum too! Can’t wait for Myles to have a NY summer
That’ll be a time. We can’t do winters anymore.
😂 understandable
I so look forward to your posts, Marc. They always make me wish you lived next door!
It is so good to have you back in my inbox, Marc.

What redemption. I hope the days and years are filled with surprising sweetness (and soup).
Amen, cousin ❤️
