Hello Marc! I just became a paid subscriber so count me among Myles' "aunties" and a benefactor to his college fund. I don't want to miss a letter in future. To your questions: I think the month will do rather than numbering them. I love them all but in particular "How I Met Your Mother," "Pictures Can't Hold Stories," and "Happy Birthday Son." I have shared my response to your letters on Notes and will continue to spread the word. Community is everything. For me, it has been the most rewarding part of creating a Substack myself. I am honored and still a little surprised every time someone subscribes; it's a beautiful thing, to find your community in this way, virtually distanced and yet so intimate. As for Year Two, I am looking forward to more of the same!
Happy Bday to Myles and congrats to hitting the one year mark of this project. It’s inspiring for us fathers and the gift you’re building for your son is something no one could quantify. What a life this is, eh?
Happy one year of writing to Myles, Marc. I am so glad to have made a new friend who is brilliant and generous and loves to nerd out and hold space and share. So many gems in here, but my all time favourite - probably because of how much I related - is still Cooking in the Bathroom.
You should be so proud of what you've built here. Wishing you many more years of this. And I just know that one day, I'll be holding the hardback copy of Raising Myles in my hand.
Congrats on one year of writing to Myles. ❤️ Thank you for sharing this gift with us and spreading love throughout our days. Excited to read along, and cheer you on, for many years to come!
I can't believe its been a year bro, congratulations. And thank you for helping to transform Substack from a place where I put my writing, to a real community. I feel like I have a place to go and belong now because of you.
Congratulations to you and Myles for a year! I love your letters to him, your tenderness and vulnerability are two things that will benefit him in this often hard world. I look forward to these letters every week. Congratulations on your success! 🎉
Thanks Marc. What you are doing is amazing. I wish I had done it with my kids, but at that time I could barely get out of my own way enough to survive the day. What a gift you are giving your son.
Diana, I am a work in progress. I know we all fall short, but I'm hoping the work we are doing for our children will, will a future of love and less trauma. Thank you again for your openness, Diana.
Thank you and happy birthday! Is today his birthday? Can't believe a year's gone by so fast. I read this today and felt as if it was written to me personally. Forgive me! But it was so beautiful and heartfelt. Keep believing in you and keep being there for your kid, when times are hard and easy. The hardest thing is to show up when your kid is having a hard time. Those are the dad's that are the best. And you've been there for him each week, each day, each moment. That takes courage, discipline and love! Congratulations to you and your family.
Karen, thank you! It took a REALLY long time, but really made me appreciate and love on myself. Thank you for recognizing this. Sharing your truth about your parenting journey has made me open up a lot. so thank you!
"There’s a softness in me that has been able to emerge because of him. There’s a confidence that has grown and been able to live in me because of him. And there is a healing that has taken place for the version of me who at times felt broken, which now feels mended because of him." YES! Parenting is an opportunity to re-parent ourselves--I can't believe how healing motherhood has been. It's amazing that we live in a time where we have the resources to dignify our kids even when they are so small and loud and... sticky. Mothering them, I hear myself with little me. I see you doing that, too. That's why I love these letters so much.
I love how we are experiencing everything at the same time. Parenting really connects us all. I am loving everything but you can keep all the bugs and swamps haha! Hope writing brings us together again soon!

Well done, Marc. Until today, I'd not read the story of how you and your wife met. I think we call that destiny. And on it goes. 🧡
Thank you, Elizabeth. Imagine how different it would be if she did not indulge me on the subway?mDestiny indeed!
I think what touched me the most was the post about letting your Dad hold Myles.
Both of my parents were badly traumatized in their youth, and, like you, I had to pick up the pieces.
I have so much admiration for the great parent you seem to be, and I think Myles will so appreciate these letters.
Monthly? Weekly? I'd say what's comfortable for you is best.
Thanks for all you do, Marc.

That's my hope too, Marc. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Thank you so much for your support! He turned one two weeks ago! So hard to believe it!
You were one of the first people to welcome me into this community. I appreciate who you are as a father, and a generous leader in this community.
Thank you for the mention!
I know it took a lot of time and energy to put this post together. I see you! Keep shining ☀️🌟✨
